No shows booked at the moment.
The River Empires is simply a group of friends from Oregon who write and play music together. Their style infuses bluegrass, folk and country with cinematic instrumentation and themes. They claim to be an independent band as well as conceptual, yet have been careful not to turn the two of those genres into gimmicks. They have self funded and self created from the birth of the group. Their music and lyrics tell a story written by the singer, Jessy Ribordy. Yet the ora around The River Empires is based more on a mysterious presentation; an ominous event, than another indie concept group in the Itunes catalogue. With all that to say, The River Empires would ask listeners to brace themselves for this event that begins on April 6th, 2010.

hey, thanks. 2 things however.
1) is the bitrate supposed to be at 160kps? Because that is pretty low, to be honest (I already pre-ordered the cd, so it’s not a huge deal to me, but my suggestion would be to re-upload those at a higher bitrate if possible. Like at least 192, or even 320.
2) as stated
“The Second Option:
The Gloomcatcher album is ONLY given out as a free download when you DOWNLOAD The River Empires album from our BANDBOX. Which will be posted on our myspace, facebook and website on April 6th. This is a downloadable service that is just the same as itunes, amazonmp3, etc. The River Empires album download only costs $10. When you purchase it, they ask you for your email. I get your emails and then I send you a link with a password that only works once to download The Gloomcatcher album for free. So if you want a ton of music for $10, this is your best bet as far as downloading goes.”
So I take it, for those downloading from the BANDBOX posting on this entry, they will receive some kind of email once it’s available to download (free)?
thanks!
Yeah the bit rate is lower on bandbox, it’s just the way the service runs. I think that’s why it’s a lower grade service that isn’t as popular among the other music downloading stores. My suggestion would be to try the Nimbit download on the TRE facebook– facebook.com/theriverempires. Because the free TGC record is available with the download of the TRE record through the Nimbit service as well, and that may be a higher bit rate, but I’m not entirely positive on that.
That’s one of the downsides of not ordering through Itunes or Amazon, they have higher bit rates. But, like I said, it’s the only service that is available for those who want the free TGC download. And both the Bandbox or the Nimbit will be the ONLY ways to get a link to the free TGC record.
Yes. And we receive the email of the person who ordered the TRE record through Bandbox and then we send them the link to the free download site of TGC.
Hope this helps!
What do you mean by 160 kps?
I bought the physical, from amazon, and The Gloomcatcher cd. You deserve every penny!
Bandboxed it and loved every second.
I’m going to end up buying a physical copy too, I know it.
So did anyone find out what the bitrate on Nimbit is? I really want to download and listen now (and get The Gloomcatcher), but I want the bitrate to be at least in the 200s.
Sooo yeah. Let me know! ^_^
Got it on iTunes as soon as I got up this morning.
In the song Wildbriar you can hear someone say Oh Sh*t in the background.
I was wondering if anyone else heard that.
It seemed pretty unmistakable, too.
Man thats just the worst thing possible ever, I can’t believe it.
Is this really a discussion we’re having? Who care’s if they swore one word, this isn’t a “christian band”
Easy, tough.
Just interesting is all.
Yeah I know they arn’t Chistian band I just thought it was funny.
I am so sad!!! My pre-order did not come in the mail today. =(
Hey. On Nimbit I was getting like 285ish kbps.
I ordered a tangible copy, but couldn’t wait and also wanted TGC so I downloaded from nimbit.
Oh by the way. That bit rate was for downloading one song at a time.
Well actually I think you might be talking about your download speed, which is different than the audio bit rate. Now that you’ve downloaded it, could you right click on one of the songs, select properties, and see what it says about bit rate then? If you did, you’d be my favorite person of the day, haha.
Hey, just to let you know, the bit rate is 160 on Nimbit. Its still sounds pretty quality though.
Hey thanks for letting me know!
No prob.
Oh ya, my bad. Yes the audio bitrate is 160. I’m a frequent music downloader and when I read kbps I instantly thought download speed.
Got the physical “The River Empires” CD and will get the physical “The Gloomcatcher” CD when it becomes available, which is hopefully soon.
Hey, has anyone else received the link to the gloomcatcher album yet? I bought the TRE album off BandBox, but no link to gloomcatcher yet. Thanks, by the way, for being incredible musicians.
I purchased the album off of BandBox around 10am EST and I haven’t gotten it either. They play shows every night and have to manually send the links out, so that’s probably why we haven’t received it yet (plus last night they played a show and had a release party I’m sure!).
Please add me to the mailing list. I am in Boise. Found you in the new releases on Rhapsody. My review: Complex and mature. It does not insult my soul. This will take a few listenings to absorb. Repetition is not your way. In a time where production quality has degraded, this offering is brilliant! I hope the word gets out on what you kids are doin over there.
Downloaded the TRE album at midnight last night, and had my TGC email when I woke up this morning. Pretty fast for me. Each song is huge and in .wav format. I suggest a conversion if you are planning on putting it or your iPod or something of that nature.
Yeah, just got TRE album! A lot of music for $10…. and so much authentic effort was put into every song. Good work guys! Definitely wasn’t underdone for such an expansive album. Still haven’t got TGC yet… but i’m betting it’s worth the wait.
I’m still waiting on both the physical copy of TRE (I pre-ordered) and a link for The Gloomcatcher.
I’m wondering if Jessy’s been pretty backed up the last few days. But hopefully both will come my way this weekend!
and yes, this album is definitely a GROWER. Although, I think people need to not think of it as a rock album. That threw me off right away.
Go and grab the babe…..
She got the child.
Got my copy in the mail today! Amazing!!!! One little thing, did anyone else get a physical copy that did not include “Witches Blossom” (first song on Volume 2)? Mine does not have that song for some reason.
Yeah, mine is missing that song as well. Oh, well. I guess I’ll have to buy it off of itunes or something…
Just got it today! Thanks for shipping so fast Jessy!!
